In today’s episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast we talk to 5-time Olympic medalist, Hayley Wickenheiser. She is regarded as one of the best female hockey players in the world and is an inspiration to all athletes of any age. It all started for her as a kid growing up in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan when her dad built her a rink in their yard. Fast forward a few years and Hayley earned a Silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics and Gold medals in the 2002, 2006, 2010 and most recently at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. She was selected to be the flag bearer for the Canadian Olympic Team in the Opening Ceremonies in Sochi.
Hayley shared with us what it’s like to be a female athlete in a male dominated sport. We talked about everything from fostering your children in their own athletic endeavours to what it really takes to make it on the big stage. Hayley is truly inspirational in so many ways. She shares amazing tips for parents of young athletes and validates how important parental support really is. This is a show that your children, nieces and nephews are not going to want to miss!
